Director General, GTUCCU, GambiaBaboucarr Ousmaila Joof was born in Njongon Village Lower Nuimi District in 1963. He has been the General Manager of the GTUCCU since inception in 1996. He went to the University of Auckland in New Zealand when graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Merit) before receiving a Master of Commerce Degree Upper Second Class Honours in Management in December 2010. As a Credit Union Professional, Mr Joof was the first African Development Educator (ADE) from the Gambia and went on to become the first International Gambia. He is currently a mentor on the ADE.
Assistant General ManagerDawda is the Assistant General Manager. Between 2011 and 2012 Dawda worked as consumer officer and later promoted to the post of Consumer Manager of The Gambia Teachers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union (GTUCCU). HIS educational background includes International Masters of Business Administration at National Cheng Kung University. Dawda also has a Bsc Economics from The University of The Gambia, Higher teacher Certificate from The Gambia College School of Education. He has undergone lot of professional training which includes Credit Union Development Educators Training, Business start-up training of trainers and leadership training.
Internal Control ManagerAfter graduating From Fatima Senior Secondary School in 2001, he proceeded to the Gambia College and pursued a Higher Teacher’s Certificate and graduated in 2004.As a trained teacher, he taught for 3 years as a classroom teacher in Kuntaur UBS. He is also a holder of a Diploma and Advance Diploma in Information Communication Technology. From there on, he went to the University of the Gambia to pursue a degree in Economics and graduated with a BSc in 2011. As a graduate, he also taught at Ndow’s Comprehensive School. In 2013, he became an employee of the GTUCCU.
Head Finance1)Mr Eric Mendy is the Head of Finance. Mr Eric Mendy was appointed by GTUCCU in January 2009 as an Accountant. Eric Mendy was promoted the rank of Senior Accountant in 2013, where he served until January 2015 when he was again promoted the Position of Head of Finance. Prior, to his engagement with The GTUCCU, Eric Mendy was employed by Pristine Consulting for three years from 2006 to 2008 as trainee accountant and rose to the position of full time accountant.Prior to working at Pristine Consulting Mr Eric Mendy was an accounts Clerk at ITS Business Management school for short spell.
Admin Manager2)Mr Tunkara is the Admin Manager of GTUCCU. He is a BSc. holder in Management from the University of the Gambia. Before that he obtain Primary Teachers Certificate (PTC), CAT Elementary and Diploma in Business Management. He started his career as an Unqualified Teacher between 1995 and 1996. He worked as a Qualified Teacher from 1998 to 2004. In 2005, Mr Tunkara was appointed by GTUCCU as a Regional Officer/Administrator at Basse until in 2009, when he was re-designated as Operation’s Officer in GTUCCU Head Quarters Kanifing. Mr Tukara was then promoted to the position of Loans Officer from where he was raised to the position of Administration Manager.
